Production Area Manager

Position Description

The Area Manager is responsible for a 2 to 3 shift operation, which is staffed with up to 90 employees. The Area Manager will plan, organize, staff and direct all manufacturing area operations; ensuring a safe work environment while driving the achievement of quality, throughput, cost and productivity.

  • Ensure a safe, productive and rewarding working environment for department employees.
  • Responsible for preparation of manufacturing plans, including but not limited to staffing, production efficiency, variable cost/ESH and product quality.
  • Revise production schedule according to work order specifications, established priorities, and availability or capability of workers, parts, material, machines and equipment.
  • Communicate work order status as required.
  • Analyzes daily production data to monitor performance against plan; understand deviations and provide insights and corrective actions to management.
  • Participates in daily TOC; reporting out on performance to plan and related recovery plans as required.
  • Lead daily stand up meetings with personnel to discuss safety, production goals, performance to goal, quality, employee feedback, and other updates as required.
  • Comply with all Federal, State and Local regulations, as well as all Company policies and procedures.
  • Effectively lead department staff by coaching, developing, communicating, delegating, and holding staff accountable. Create a team oriented environment which motivates staff and keeps employees engaged in their jobs and the Company.

  • A Bachelor s degree from an accredited institution; preferably in science, engineering, supply chain or material planning
  • Minimum of two years related experience in a manufacturing environment; forging and/or machining industry preferred
  • Lean manufacturing basics
  • Trouble shooting skills with focus on process improvement
  • Project Management
  • Ability to analyze and interpret data
  • Strong communications skills, both verbal and written, to convey ideas and processes
  • Strong leadership; ability to define team objectives and hold others accountable for results
  • Ability to complete work assignments accurately and quickly, while always focusing on accomplishing the goal
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently without close supervision
  • Strong organization and planning skills
  • Team Oriented
  • Proficient use of Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint; Oracle experience preferred
  • Ability to work 40+ hours per week, including weekends as required

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
