Design Engineer


Design Engineer Position Available (Direct Hire) - Paramount, CA

Kelly Services is currently seeking a Design Engineer for one of their top aerospace clients in the Paramount, CA area.
Description Summary:
Design Engineer II employees will design tooling to support that manufacturing of open and closed die forgings. Employees will also assist in the concurrent design of shipped forgings with customers. Employee will be able to review a forgings entire data package to ensure compliance with the requirements. Employees will be proficient with CAD and simulations software. Employees will utilize experience to improve department procedures, standards, and help other employees.
Major Job Duties:



  • Under limited supervision, designs: new product, forging envelopes, develops die configurations, and makes improvements to existing products Evaluates tooling improvements, and process changes for cost efficiency.


  • Use finite element analysis simulations to analyze process effectiveness, efficiency, die stresses, and forging loads, research and implement new simulation practices.


  • Determine most effective process parameters for a new forging design.


  • Represent engineering in cross functional strategic team.


  • Track progress of die fabrication.


  • Work with sales and directly with the customer on new forgings.


  • Design mechanical components, fixtures and templates.


  • Produce documentation to satisfy departmental control procedures.


  • Review engineering documentation for changes (DTR) Advise Engineering Techs and Design Engineer I employees regarding departmental practices, analysis techniques, and technical design problems.

Requirements Qualifications:



  • Must be able to comply with ITAR and EAR residency requirements



Education/Experience:



  • BS in Mechanical Engineering or other related engineering discipline plus 2-4 years experience in manufacturing, preferably in a forging environment.



Skills:



  • The incumbent will possess excellent verbal and written communication skills and be fluent in English.


  • Must have strong analytical/problem solving skills.


  • Competency with customer, industry, and military specifications, standards, practices, and procedures.


  • Requires strong knowledge of manufacturing and machining practices, mechanical design, finite element analysis, strength of materials and failure modes.


  • Must be able to read blueprints and prepare drawings and layouts.


  • Proficiency in product definition, including geometric dimensioning and tolerance


  • Strong knowledge in designing mechanical components, fixtures and tooling.


  • Experience in 3D modeling software to develop CAD models to determine forging material requirements.


  • Understanding of internal and vendor manufacturing constraints and limitations.


  • Computer skills (Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint,). 3D CAD experience (CATIA is preferred)

Don't Be Fooled

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
